The Brief
Heritage Botanical had been trading for three generations on reputation alone. Their existing website was a mid-2000s relic — static, slow, and completely at odds with the premium plant collection and expert knowledge their customers came for. They were losing online enquiries to competitors with inferior product but better digital presence.
The Approach
We started with the brand. A visual identity rooted in their history — an illustrated mark, a warm earthy palette, and editorial typography that felt like a coffee-table book about horticulture. The website followed the brand's lead: generous whitespace, deep greens, and a content strategy that positioned their team's expertise as the product, not just the plants.
The Brand
Heritage Botanical’s identity needed to feel rooted without feeling stale. We developed a mark built around a stylised botanical illustration — clean enough to scale down to a favicon, detailed enough to own a letterhead.
The colour palette drew from the nursery itself: deep forest greens, warm terracotta, and a clean cream that let the plant photography breathe.
The Website
The site is organised around three core goals: educate, inspire, and convert. A rich blog positions the team as authoritative voices on horticulture. A curated shop showcases their rarest stock. And a booking system handles the consultancy sessions their expert team offers.
Every page is built for speed — critical CSS inlined, images served as AVIF with WebP fallback, and a Lighthouse score of 98 across all metrics.
The CMS
The team updates the site themselves — new arrivals, seasonal guides, and event listings. Sanity Studio was customised to match their workflow exactly, with preview environments that let them see changes before publishing.
